Imposter guide
How to Play the Imposter Party Game
Someone at a party mentioned Imposter and everyone else nodded like they'd played it a hundred times. You smiled and nodded too. Now you're hosting next weekend and you'd like to actually understand the rules before you're the one explaining them.
How to do it in Imposter
Everyone gets the word, except one person
Open the Imposter app, add your players, and pass the phone around. Each person sees the same secret word, say “campfire,” but one random player instead sees that they're the imposter and gets no word at all.
Go around giving one-word clues
Each player says a single word that relates to the secret word. Real players want to sound like they know it without spelling it out, and the imposter has to bluff based on what everyone else is saying.
Vote, then check the app
After a round or two of clues, everyone points at who they think is faking it. The app reveals whether you caught the imposter. If the imposter survives the vote, or guesses the secret word after being caught, they win the round.
