Charades guide
How to Play Charades Without Cards
You remember charades from when you were a kid: someone tore up paper, everyone scribbled words, and the slips went into a bowl. Now you're at a hangout where charades comes up and nobody has paper, a pen, or a printer. Good news: the bowl of slips was only ever there to hide the words from the actor, and a phone does that job better.
How to do it in Charades
Open Charades in your browser or on your phone
The free browser version needs nothing installed, so you can start from whatever device is already in the room.
Pick a category and let the app deal the words
This replaces the bowl. Each round, the actor gets a word on screen that the guessers can't see, drawn from a pool of 700+ so words rarely repeat.
Act, guess, rotate
The actor holds the phone, mimes the word silently, and the team guesses before the timer runs out. When the round ends, pass the phone to the next player and go again.
