Charades Words for Kids: Easy Picks That Work
You've got a birthday party or a restless classroom coming up, and charades seems like the obvious game. The catch is the words. A seven-year-old can act out “dog” but will stand frozen in front of “philosophy,” and you don't have time to sit down and write fifty kid-safe words on paper slips. You want words they'll actually know, ready to go.
How to do it in Charades
Skip the paper slips entirely
Open the Charades app instead of writing words out by hand. It has 700+ words sorted into 14 categories, so the prep work is already done for you.
Pick a category kids know
Choose something concrete like animals or everyday actions, things a kid has seen and can mime. Stay away from the movie and celebrity categories unless the kids are older.
Hand over the phone and start the round
The actor sees the word, the timer starts, and the rest of the group guesses. With younger kids, give a longer timer and let them pass on any word that stumps them.
